Linda Jean
(Grant) Norris, 61, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on December 27,
2011 following a lengthy illness.
Linda was a
member of St. Stephens AME Church; she enjoyed cooking and reading, and was well
known in the community as a person who loved to help others and loved her
family.
Linda is
survived by her mother, Lester May (Gill) Nedham; daughters, Angela Denice
McCovery (John Webb), of Inkster, MI, and Rena Lynn Chaney (Charlie Dunton), of
Sandusky; grandchildren, Taja Monique Mack, Vernon Bernard McCovery, Jr., Betty
Ann Williams, Ffence Light, Blair Sinclair Light, Rashina C. Brown, Angel J.
Price, and Travis Thomas; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Noxc rris, of
Flint, MI, Clairette (James) Derring, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Carolyn
(Welston) Nickelson, of Sandusky; brother-in-law, Thom Cromer; sister-in-laws,
Ozella Grant, and Peggy Grant; godchildren, Willene Davis, Rebecca Hartley, Ann
Pennix, Denise Williams, Dennis Pennix, and Eric Thomas, and a host of nieces,
nephews and special friends, including her best friend and caretaker, Geneva
Mathews; dear friend, Freddie Farris, and Allan Walton.
She was
preceded by her husband, Lewis Thomas Norris, in 1998; her companion, Willie
James Hunter, in 1999; her father, R.C. Nedham; her adopted parents, Andrew
Grant, and Maggie Hunter; sisters, Helen Blakely, Sadie M. Grant, Elssie B.
Taylor, Martha Lee Bellner, Maddie Lee Cole, and Mable Cromer; brothers, Jimmy,
and John Grant, William Norris, and Brady, and Otis C. Nedham.
Friends may
call on Wednesday, January, 4, 2012 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services
at 12:00 Noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky.
Rev. Clayton Howard will officiate and burial will be in Oakland
Cemetery, Sandusky. Toft Funeral
Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is assisting the family with
arrangements. Memorial
