Virginia Ruth "Ginny" Cooley

Virginia Ruth “Ginny” Cooley, 86, of Sandusky, died Saturday, January 21, 2012
in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born on May 16, 1925 in Vermilion, Ohio.
Ginny graduated from Sandusky High School. She worked as a cook for various
restaurants.
She was a longtime member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church. She is known for
her volunteerism for numerous organizations, enjoyed gardening and crafts, and
enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Ginny is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Louis) Muritori, Andrea B. Cudnik,
Melissa A. (Robert) Alt, Bryson City, N.C., and Heather Ashley; sons, Scott M.
Cooley and Douglas B. Cooley; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Iona (Elmer) Cowie; a
daughter, Debra Wierzba; a sister, Marietta Koelsch; and a brother, Larry Cowie.
Honoring Ginny’s wishes, cremation will take place in Toft Funeral Home &
Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The family will receive friends at a
potluck dinner to celebrate her life on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 4-8 P.M.
at the Erie County Care Facility, 3916 Perkins Ave., Huron, with Ernie Bowman of
the American Legion Post 83 presiding.
