Dean L. Swain, Sr., 53, of Sandusky, passed away on March 16, 2017 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on September 26, 1963 in Sandusky to the late Dwight and Marian Louise (Fuller) McKenzie Swain. Dean received his religious education at Ebenezer Baptist Church, where at a young age he became a member. A 1982 graduate of Sandusky High School, he was very active in sports. After high school, Dean joined the United States Navy and remained active as long as his health allowed. In 1982, Dean married Tonya Randleman.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Tonya; daughter, Chardae Q. Swain, of Sandusky; sons, Dean Jr., DeNarea, and De’Yon Swain, all of Sandusky; grandchildren, DeNaryon, Dailyn, DeNarea Jr., Gianna, De’Jon, De’Miyah, Daimere, and De’Yon Jr.; sisters, Wendy Swain, of Sandusky, Jackie (Emmett) Phillips, of New Jersey, and Gwendolyn (Edward) Shy, of Toledo; brother, Darrell McKenzie; devoted caregiver, Jackie Amison, of Sandusky; godsons, John (Kristen) Butler, of Newport News, Virginia, and Tion Swain, of Sandusky; aunt, Lillie Louise Maxie, of Sandusky; uncles, Eddie Frank Fuller and Ernie Perkins, both of Rochester, New York; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relative, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah J. Andrews (in 2005); brothers, Roger McKenzie (in 2005) and Anthony McKenzie (2013); niece, Soleta Marsha Van Nostrand (in 2004); as well as grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 until time of funeral services at 12 noon in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
