Doris (Weilnau) Strong, 92, of Sandusky, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, surrounded by her family, after an amazing life.

She was born and lived most of her 92 years here in Erie County. She graduated from Milan High School in 1942, and married John “Jack” Strong, of Milan, in November of 1943. They were married for 63 years.

Doris was a lifelong member of St. John’s UCC, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and helped with both Adult Fellowship and LOGOS. She retired after more than 30 years from the government ASCS agricultural office.

Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, cooking, babysitting the grandkids, and playing cards with family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with Jack, with their camper in tow, visiting family and friends across the US.

Doris is survived by her son, Jerry (wife, Cindy) Strong; daughters, Beverly (husband, Robert) Conlin and Darlene (husband, Robert) Schwanger; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and Jared Strong, Ryan Cassidy, Nicole Schwanger, Kristen Tackett, and Aaron and Tyler Conlin; six great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (husband, Kenny) Adams; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie L. Weilnau and Viola Weilnau.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Carl E. Weilnau and Hulda (Leber) Weilnau; and brothers, Lawrence, Norman, and Howard (also his wife, Katie) Weilnau.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. on Friday, April 14 until 7 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A second visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in St. John’s UCC, Milan. Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow and entombment will take place at 1:30 p.m. in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church or to Stein Hospice. Condolences and gifts of sympathy may be shared with the family by visiting
