Franklin E. Custard, 89, residing at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, and formerly of Port Clinton, died Monday, April 11, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on March 10, 1928 in Findlay, OH, and was a veteran of the Merchant Marines during WWII.
Frank was a contractor in the Phoenix, AZ area for several years.
He was a member of the Maritime Association and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Franklin, Elkmont, AL, and Lisa Karrer, Merritt Island, FL; sons, Richard (Nancy) Custard, Leesburg, FL, and David (Mary) Custard, Sandusky; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Custard, Findlay, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen (Fletcher) Custard; and a granddaughter, Stacey Franklin.
Military services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 12 P.M. Noon in the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
