Marian Francis Babcock, 94, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2017 in her daughter’s home in Mequon, WI.
Marian was born on January 15, 1923 in Bedford, IN to John W. Cross and Beulah (Denen) Cross.
Marian and her family moved to Sandusky in 1936 where she graduated from Sandusky High School in 1941. On December 24, 1943, she married Walter G. Babcock, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 28, 2012. An avid reader, Marian was a quiet, kind, and a devoted stay-at-home mother for many years. While in living in Ashland, OH she worked as a secretary at Ashland University.
Marian is survived by her son, James (Sheri), of Florida; daughter, Barbara (Michael) Phillip, of Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Nancy; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Marian was preceded in death by her son, Walter G., III; and sisters, Geraldine Cook and Peggy Jarvis.
A memorial service for both Walter and Marian Babcock will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Family and friends will be greeted at the funeral home from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the service. Together, they will be interred in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
