Max D. Long, 82 residing in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, and formerly of Mantua, OH, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on September 13, 1934 in Beckley, W.VA.
Max was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Donley Construction, Local 310 as a concrete finisher, but still like doing side jobs.
He loved to golf, play baseball and bowl.
He is survived by his children, Daniel R. Long, Mantua, OH, and Jennifer G. (Chuck) Wanyek, Ravenna, OH; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;; brother, Ronnie Long, Beckley, W.VA; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean (Ritchey) Long; parents, Robey and Elsie Long; great-granddaughter, Chloe Marie Terry; brothers, Eddie and Buster; sisters, Loriane, Pansey and Marlene.
A military service will be held Monday, April 17, 2017, at 1:30 P.M. in the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Paul Birmingham will officiate. There will be a gathering at the V.F.W. in Streetsboro at 4:30 P.M. for family and friends. Toft Funeral Home, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
